Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Abu Bakr Mahmoud, emphasized the strong interest of several Egyptian companies in participating in key projects in Zambia, particularly in the infrastructure, construction, and energy sectors. He highlighted the extensive expertise that Egyptian firms bring to these fields, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday September 24.
Mahmoud’s remarks came during a meeting with Hope Situmbeko, Permanent Secretary of Administration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at State House in Lusaka. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and investment areas, especially given the shared membership of Egypt and Zambia in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The deputy minister also reiterated Egypt’s commitment to sharing its expertise and helping to build the capabilities of Zambian professionals. This cooperation, he noted, would not only serve the interests of both countries but also strengthen ties and coordination among African nations.
