Spanish official in charge of intelligence and counter-terrorism at the Spanish police Javier Antonio Suzin Persero discussed the means to advance cooperation with Morocco during talks with head of the Moroccan police and domestic intelligence Abdellatif Hammouchi.
The meeting was part of Persero’s first visit abroad since he took office, highlighting the close cooperation ties between the two countries, Morocco’s Police and Domestic intelligence DGSN said in a statement.
The two officials discussed contemporary security and terrorism threats, notably those emanating from the Sahel, the statement said.
They also highlighted the importance of joint operations to abort terrorist attacks and crack down on violent extremism, it said.
They also raised cooperation prospects ahead of the 2030 World Cup, to be hosted by the two nations in addition to Portugal.
On this occasion, the Spanish official expressed satisfaction with bilateral cooperation, adding that tip offs provided by Morocco helped foil numerous terrorist plots.
