Morocco took part in a high-level meeting on China-Africa economic and trade cooperation held Wednesday at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen multilateral ties between Beijing and the continent.
The meeting, convened at the invitation of China’s Permanent Mission to the African Union, brought together representatives from all 54 African UN member states, alongside Chinese development institutions, financial agencies, and business leaders.
Speaking at the session, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the AU, Mohamed Arrouchi, underscored the strategic nature of the China-Africa partnership, noting its alignment with Agenda 2063, the AU’s blueprint for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Arrouchi also highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Morocco and China, citing “notable achievements” in trade and development cooperation over recent years.
Discussions focused on financial and technical assistance for infrastructure, investment, and industrial projects led by China across the continent. Key Chinese participants included the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), export promotion bodies, and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting formed part of the broader China-Africa Partnership, aimed at expanding economic collaboration and supporting Africa’s development goals.
