Morocco beats Egypt, qualifies to final of CAF U20

Morocco eliminated the host country Egypt 1-0 in the semi-final game of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Morocco’s Jones El-Abdellaoui scored the goal in the 77th minute, qualifying the Atlas Lions to the final game against South Africa.

The Moroccan squad, led by Mohamed Ouahbi, made a memorable run eliminating contenders such as Tunisia and Sierra Leone.

Moroccans topped their group with a 3-2 win over Kenya, a 0-0 draw against Nigeria, and a 3-1 victory against Tunisia. They busted Sierra Leone 1-0.

The Atlas Lions together with other semi-finalists Egypt, South Africa and Nigeria secured spots in the World Cup in Chile, due next September.

Morocco has invested in early football training of younger teams, with the U17 winning their first African title this year.
