
Slovakia has joined the momentum in favor of Morocco’s autonomy plan becoming the 23rd EU state to back the Kingdom’s initiative aiming to find a lasting political solution to the artificial territorial conflict.
“Slovakia recognizes the Moroccan initiative, presented to the United Nations Secretary-General on April 11, 2007, as a basis for a final solution under the auspices of the United Nations,” reads a joint Moroccan-Slovak statement, issued following talks between Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita and his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár on Thursday in Rabat.
Slovakia welcomes “Morocco’s serious and credible efforts to advance the political process” and backs a “fair, lasting and mutually acceptable solution,” in line with the UN charter and relevant Security Council resolutions, reads the joint statement.
The two countries agreed to step up cooperation at the economic, cultural and parliamentary levels.
In terms of the economy in particular, they agreed to explore cooperation opportunities in the fields of renewable energy, the automotive industries, agriculture and tourism, as well as investment promotion, it said.
They also agreed to support each other for their respective candidature to the United Nations Security Council for the term 2028-2029, expressing their commitment to work closely and to coordinate their actions in favour of the maintenance of international peace and security.
