Ballot counting began on Tuesday, 5 August, following the conclusion of Egypt’s two-day Senate elections, with polling stations closing promptly at 9 pm on the final day.
The vote, held on 4–5 August across 8,286 stations, was monitored by 9,500 judges—including 2,500 women—to ensure transparency. Approximately 68 million eligible Egyptians participated, following earlier voting by expatriates on 1–2 August at 136 polling sites in 117 countries.
The expatriate ballots have now entered the counting phase, with local committees forwarding results via diplomatic channels to the central electoral authority. The National Elections Authority is scheduled to announce first-round results on 12 August.
If no candidate or list achieves an outright majority, a run‑off will be held for expatriates on 25–26 August and for domestic voters on 27–28 August. Final certified results are expected by 4 September. According to the National Elections Authority, 428 candidates are vying for individual seats in the 2025 Senate elections, including 186 independents and 242 affiliated with political parties.
