South Sudan Denies Talks with Israel Over Relocation of Palestinians from Gaza

South Sudan has rejected Israeli media reports alleging it is in discussions with Israel to resettle Palestinians from Gaza. In a statement on Wednesday, August 13, the Foreign Ministry said such claims are “baseless” and do not represent the Government’s policy, urging media outlets to verify information with official sources before publication.

The denial follows reports that Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel visited Juba to discuss relocation plans—claims also carried by ‘Yedioth Ahronoth’, which said Israel was in talks with five countries on the matter.

The allegations emerge amid continued global condemnation of proposals, including one by US President Donald Trump, to remove Palestinians from Gaza under redevelopment schemes. Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, ongoing since October 2023, has killed more than 61,700 people—mostly women and children—prompting the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ex-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
