Angola Requires 2,000 Fishery Technicians by 2035 to Sustain Sector Growth

Angola’s agricultural development plan highlights an urgent requirement for roughly 2,000 mid-level technicians to support the fisheries sector by 2035. This projection forms part of the nation’s broader strategy to strengthen its human capital in line with its Blue Economy ambitions, aiming to drive sustainable growth, ensure food security, and bolster export potential.
To meet this need, the government is expected to scale up training programmes, nurture vocational pathways, and reinforce institutional partnerships that bridge academia, public agencies, and industry stakeholders. Such capacity building will be essential to professionalise operations across coastal and aquaculture systems, modernise governance frameworks, and enable Angola to reliably harness its marine and inland water resources.
