Forbes has named Morocco the 6th best destination in the world to visit in 2025, highlighting the country’s diverse attractions, rich culture and growing international recognition.
The ranking, published in collaboration with travel search engine Kayak, mentions Morocco’s emerging and underappreciated travel hotspots, ranking the Kingdom’s tourist appeal just behind Zimbabwe, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, South Korea, and Argentina.
Forbes describes Morocco as a “shimmering mirage,” offering travelers a unique blend of desert dunes, snow-capped mountains, and vibrant cities.
Among the destinations spotlighted within Morocco are: Fès, with its labyrinthine medina and centuries-old tanneries.
Forbes also zoomed on Marrakech, known for its bustling souks and rooftop cafés, Essaouira and its coastal gem with historic ramparts and artistic flair, in addition to the blue city Chefchaouen, the iconic blue-hued town nestled in the Rif Mountains.
The country’s growing cultural footprint is also reflected in Essaouira’s selection as host city for the UNESCO Creative Cities Conference in 2026, further cementing Morocco’s status as a global cultural hub.
Up to July this year, the country had a record 11.6 million tourist arrivals, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
In 2024, Morocco had a record 17.4 million tourist arrivals, marking a 20% increase compared to 2023 and surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
