Morocco’s National Security Directorate (DGSN) has deployed a comprehensive, integrated security apparatus for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations football championship, which opened Sunday in Rabat. Director General Abdellatif Hammouchi personally inspected final security arrangements ensuring competition safety across host venues.
Accompanied by Rabat’s police prefect and central security officials, Hammouchi visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex to review security and safety protocols securing the opening match between Morocco and Comoros. He examined preparations and security systems guaranteeing supporter flow management, sports facility protection, and optimal safety conditions throughout the continental tournament.
During field inspections, the director general toured public-designated installations and infrastructure. Officials presented explanations regarding command and coordination center operations linked to surveillance cameras securing the stadium, alongside the police station established inside the sports complex ensuring strict law enforcement including legal provisions governing sports security.
The DGSN deployment features creation of an African police cooperation center supporting this sporting event’s security dimensions. The center comprises representatives from security services of participating nations alongside delegates from FIFA, the Confederation of African Football, Interpol, and security service representatives from Qatar, Portugal, and Spain.
Authorities established specific security protocols for each match considering attendance numbers and encounter characteristics. Security resources were mobilized across various spaces hosting supporters in different cities, guaranteeing highest required security standards. The DGSN improved sports security services nationwide, reinforcing personnel and logistical resources while providing recognizable visual identity ensuring meticulous accompaniment of all sporting events and activities.
Border police received sufficient human resources responding swiftly to substantial foreign supporter influx visiting Morocco for the competition. The directorate contributed to training operations for stadium stewards responsible for internal venue security, expressing wishes for competition success consolidating national continental and international prominence through comprehensive security protocols ensuring national and foreign supporter safety while guaranteeing circulation and movement fluidity throughout the championship.
