Morocco has launched its IA strategy 2030 aimed at leveraging artificial intelligence to modernize public services, improve efficiency, security and digital system interoperability as this technology has already shown its key role in the health and financial services sectors.
The roadmap focuses on five priorities: ensure technological independence, build trust in AI usage, develop national skills, support local innovation, and provide balanced coverage across the territory.
The plan recommends the establishment of a network of AI centers of excellence tasked with connecting academic research, technological innovation, and regional economic needs.
The plan builds on the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, launched in September 2024, which places AI at the core of the country’s digital transformation.
Moroccan government expects the national AI strategy to generate 240,000 digital jobs by 2030 and contribute roughly $10 billion to GDP. To reach the targeted goals, a General Directorate for AI & Emerging Technologies will be set up to oversee public policy along with the establishment of an Arab-African regional digital hub in partnership with the UNDP to encourage sustainable digital innovation.
According to experts, Morocco AI strategy 2030 will enable the Kingdom to enhance further economic competitiveness, create skilled jobs, improve public service efficiency through intelligent systems, and strengthen Morocco position in Africa and around the globe.
