On Wednesday, Cameroon’s Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development announced that Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon have agreed to jointly exploit gas reserves located in the border towns of Yoyo and Yolanda.
The unitisation agreement for the transboundary Yoyo–Yolanda gas field was signed on Tuesday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea’s capital, establishing a formal framework for shared development of the resource.
Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, described the accord as “historic,” emphasising that sincere bilateral cooperation offers the most effective pathway to the efficient management of shared natural resources.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in relations between the two countries, laying the foundation for technical and economic collaboration aimed at boosting revenue generation and creating employment opportunities in both Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.
