Seven Civilians Killed in Shelling of Dilling Amid Escalating Sudan Conflict

At least seven civilians, including a child, were killed and 13 others injured after artillery shells struck residential areas in Dilling, the Sudanese Doctors Network reported on Tuesday, March 10.

The group said the bombardment involved the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, which allegedly targeted populated neighbourhoods, killing civilians including three women and triggering widespread panic among residents.

The medical network condemned the use of heavy artillery against civilian areas, describing the attacks as a serious violation of international humanitarian law and warning that the escalation could force more residents to flee their homes.

The violence comes amid ongoing conflict in South Kordofan State, where Abdel Aziz al-Hilu’s forces have joined clashes involving the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in attempts to control strategic areas.

Recent months have seen increased coordination between the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N in military operations around Dilling, worsening the security and humanitarian situation and disrupting the delivery of food and medical supplies.

The Sudanese Doctors Network has called on the international community and human rights organisations to intervene urgently and pressure the warring sides to halt attacks on civilians.
