Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says two Ghanaian nationals were injured on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in a drone incident near Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement issued in Accra on March 11, the ministry condemned the incident and urged Ghanaian citizens living in the region to remain vigilant. According to the statement, the two Ghanaians sustained injuries when two drones fell in the vicinity of the airport, but officials said their injuries were not life-threatening and they are expected to recover.
Authorities in Dubai confirmed that four people were injured in the incident, including the two Ghanaians, a Bangladeshi national who suffered minor injuries, and an Indian national who sustained moderate injuries.
Dubai’s media office said the drones were launched from Iran, although airport operations continued normally following the incident.
The attack comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following joint attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran on February 28. The strikes reportedly killed more than 1,200 people, including Ali Khamenei, and more than 150 schoolgirls.
Tehran has since retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates say their air defence systems have detected 1,475 drones launched from Iran since the conflict began, intercepting 1,385 of them.
