Islamic Military Coalition Against Terrorism Launches “Support” Initiative to Strengthen Counter-Terrorism Capacity in Togo

The Islamic Military Coalition Against Terrorism (CIMCT) has launched a new initiative in Lomé, Togo, on 12 May 2026, aimed at enhancing the operational capacity of member States, in the fight against terrorism through the provision of military equipment and logistical support.

The programme, known as “Support,” seeks to strengthen national security Forces by supplying specialized equipment, modern technologies, and integrated operational assistance to improve counter-terrorism effectiveness on the ground.

The launch ceremony was attended by Togolese Minister of Security Calixte Atossi Madjoulba and CIMCT Secretary General, Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi, alongside senior military officials, diplomats, and security experts.

Speaking at the event, the Togolese minister stressed that terrorism remains a major transnational threat requiring strengthened international cooperation. He highlighted Togo’s commitment to the coalition since joining in 2022 and its broader security strategy focused on protection, coordination and transformation.

The CIMCT leadership said the initiative forms part of its wider strategic framework spanning ideological, media, financial, and military dimensions of counter-terrorism. It added that “Support” reflects ongoing efforts to modernise defence capabilities, enhance readiness, and improve responses to evolving terrorist threats.

The coalition also emphasised that the programme is intended to deepen military cooperation among member states and reinforce collective security mechanisms across the region.
