Togo Launches 20 Billion CFA Franc Bond Issue to Support State Budget

Togo is set to raise 20 billion CFA francs through a new bond issuance on the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) regional financial market on Friday, 24 July 2026.

The operation, organised by UMOA-Titres in collaboration with the Togolese Public Treasury, involves the simultaneous issuance of Treasury Bonds (OATs) with maturities of three and five years. According to the tender details, the three-year bonds will carry an interest rate of 6.15 per cent, while the five-year bonds will offer 6.35 per cent.

The funds raised will be used to finance the government’s budget as part of Togo’s broader resource mobilisation strategy. Since the beginning of 2026, Togo has raised 241 billion CFA francs, representing about 52 per cent of its annual target of 463 billion CFA francs.
