Côte d’Ivoire registered 222,578 vehicles between January and 22 September 2026 under its new vehicle registration system, Land Transport and Traffic Director-General Oumar Sacko said on Tuesday, 22 September.
The total comprised 86,739 new vehicles, 42,706 used vehicles and 93,133 two- and three-wheeled vehicles. Sacko said the digitised system was intended to speed up registration, improve record security and tackle fraudulent documents and number plates.
An accelerated process for new vehicles has also been introduced. Separately, a motorcycle registration drive operating since 22 September 2022 has registered 40,253 motorcycles, while an exercise begun in January 2026 has addressed non-compliant plates on private vehicles belonging to defence and security personnel.
