Chad to set up Consulate General in Dakhla

The Republic of Chad on Wednesday informed Moroccan authorities of its decision to open shortly a Consulate General in Dakhla, in the Moroccan Sahara, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.

According to the Chadian authorities, this decision reflects the fraternal relations binding King Mohammed VI and President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, the statement said, adding that the decision reflects the quality of bilateral ties, and confirms Chad’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, its territorial integrity and its national unity.

With Chad’s Consulate General, the number of consular representations in the Moroccan Saharan cities of Laayoune and Dakhla will increase to 28.

The latest consulate General inaugurated in Dakhla on August 31 was that of Cape Verde.
