The Angolan President, João Lourenço, went to London, United Kingdom, to participate in the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, it was reported on Thursday.
The Angolan head of state is accompanied on this trip by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, for the ceremony to be held on Saturday at Westminster Abbey, the Angolan press reported.
According to the spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Luís Fernando, the Angolan President will be part of the group of several entities invited, from different origins, to participate in the act.
Charles III, 74 years old, will be crowned on Saturday, despite having already been officially proclaimed on September 10, 2022, two days after the death of his mother Elizabeth II, at 96 years of age and after 70 years of reign.
The religious ceremony at Westminster Abbey involves a series of rituals, including anointing with a special oil and swearing an oath, the exchange of objects such as the royal sword, orb and scepter, and finally the coronation with the crown of St. Edward (St. Edward).
The Queen Consort, Camilla, will also be crowned, followed by a procession in a horse-drawn carriage to Buckingham Palace, where the royal family will make an appearance on the balcony to conclude the public celebrations.
The festivities will continue for two more days, including street parties across the country and a musical concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday and a national holiday on Monday, during which the King urged Britons to volunteer.
