Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde (TACV) announced on September 23 that it has received 127 applications for pilot positions for its fleet of ATR aircraft in the newly established state-owned inter-island airline.
According to the statement, the majority of applicants are foreign, with only 23 Cape Verdeans among them. Men dominate the applicant pool, with just seven women applying, hailing from countries such as Portugal, Greece, Brazil, Botswana, and Cape Verde.
TACV highlighted the diversity of candidates, representing over 30 countries, as a sign of the company’s “prestige.”
Earlier this month, the Cape Verdean government officially established the new airline, which aims to address chronic issues in domestic flights, including frequent delays, cancellations, and a shortage of aircraft.
