Several initiatives launched by Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI in support of Africa received broad backing during the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which concluded on Sunday in Baghdad.
In this connection, the foreign ministers of Islamic countries welcomed, in a resolution on the situation in the Sahel region and neighboring countries, King Mohammed VI’s Initiative to enable Atlantic access for Sahel countries.
They highlighted the strategic importance of this Initiative, which reflects Morocco’s active solidarity with its brotherly African countries in general, and those in the Sahel region in particular.
In a separate resolution on strengthening multilateral cooperation within the OIC framework, the ministers also welcomed the Atlantic African States Initiative, launched by the Moroccan King as an African partnership framework aimed at strengthening cooperation and integration among African countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean, with a view to consolidating peace, stability and shared prosperity across the region.
