Nouakchott International Film Festival admitted to the list of Arab film Festivals

The Nouakchott International Film Festival (FIFN) has been included in the Union of Arab Film Festivals.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Nouakchott, by the festival director Mohamed Moustapha El Ban in the presence of regional representatives and journalists.

The second edition of the festival, scheduled for October 22–26, features competitions in feature and short films, as well as workshops tied to films produced in the Northern Wilayas. A “Producers’ Market” will be a new highlight, offering Mauritanian filmmakers a chance to present their projects to production companies.

The festival director emphasized ongoing efforts to establish a cinema subsidy fund and build a large performance hall for theater and screenings. The festival aims to foster local talent through training and masterclasses. Nearly 20 films, including over 10 international entries, will be shown, with 5 Arab films competing for the Golden Shell in the feature film category and 11 in the short film category. World-renowned directors, producers, and critics are expected to attend.
