GCC countries reaffirm support for Morocco’s sovereignty over Sahara

The Gulf Cooperation Council reiterated its steady stand in support of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara territory.

The GCC at the end of its 45th supreme council in Kuwait reaffirmed the strategic importance it attaches to partnership with Morocco and “reiterated the steady positions and decisions in support of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara.”

The council also called for “preserving the peace and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco and its territorial integrity and commended the UN Security Council resolution 2756.”

The GCC is made up of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE and Bahrain have been among the 29 countries that opened consulates in the Moroccan Sahara.
