Ghana: Woolworths has opened a new store in Accra West Hills Mall

10404861_728890457195605_8996447247110932481_nAfter its 63 stores in eleven African countries, the South African supermarkets firm, Woolworths, plans to open a second supermarket in Accra. The information was released yesterday in a statement from Woolworths in Accra. According to the statement, the new store is at about 555 square meters and large enough to meet Ghana’s growing demand for Woolworth’s modern products. The West Hills Mall store stocks a comprehensive range of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing as well as cosmetics, footwear and accessories.

“We are delighted to be able to meet our customers’ growing expectations and needs by opening a new store in a great location and we are optimistic about our future in Ghana,” said Paula Disberry, Woolworths Group Director of retail operations.

“Ghana remains a compelling growth opportunity for Woolworths. The economy has shown a successive growth year by year coupled with rising household incomes, increasing urbanisation and a significant emerging middle class’’ she added.

“Woolworths is investing in staff development programmes with an emphasis on growing retail skills. This is another example of our ongoing commitment to our African business as we become a leading Southern Hemisphere retailer,” added Disberry.
