Morocco Dispatches Additional 100 Tons of Emergency Aid to Gaza

Morocco will airlift approximately 100 tons of food supplies and medical aid to Gaza following direct orders from King Mohammed VI, as the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave deepens amid Israeli-imposed restrictions on aid deliveries.

The Foreign Ministry announced that the shipment specifically targets vulnerable populations, particularly children and infants suffering from severe malnutrition. The monarch, who chairs the Al-Quds Committee responsible for coordinating support to Palestinians, insisted on aerial delivery to ensure urgent and direct distribution despite ongoing access challenges.

The initiative represents Morocco’s latest contribution to alleviating Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe, where health ministry data indicates 266 starvation-related deaths, including 112 children, since Israel intensified its aid blockade on March 18. International human rights organizations have characterized the restrictions as using hunger as a “weapon of war.”

Morocco has maintained consistent humanitarian support through multiple channels over recent months. Early August witnessed Moroccan-flagged trucks bearing Mohammed VI Foundation for Solidarity logos distributing supplies within Gaza. A July shipment delivered nearly 180 tons of emergency provisions, including food, medical supplies, and shelter materials through negotiated delivery corridors.

The North African kingdom’s assistance operates primarily through the Al-Quds Committee framework, leveraging diplomatic channels to navigate complex logistics. However, Israeli restrictions continue to severely hamper international relief efforts, with aid organizations reporting systematic obstruction of humanitarian corridors.

The latest airlift underscores Morocco’s sustained diplomatic engagement on the Palestinian issue, positioning humanitarian assistance as a cornerstone of its Middle East policy. While these contributions provide critical relief to affected populations, aid agencies emphasize that access restrictions prevent adequate response to the enclave’s escalating humanitarian needs, where malnutrition rates have reached unprecedented levels among Gaza’s 2.3 million residents.

Palestinians in Gaza have thanked King Mohammed VI for his generous support and firm solidarity with Palestinian people, particularly the populations of Gaza in times of hardship and crises.

They have said the royal initiatives reflect the unwavering commitment of the Kingdom to the Palestinian cause.
