ECOWAS Appoints Yemi Osinbajo to Lead Election Observation Mission in Côte d’Ivoire

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has appointed Nigeria’s former Vice-President, Pr Yemi Osinbajo, to head its Election Observation Mission for Côte d’Ivoire’s upcoming presidential election scheduled for 25 October.
According to a statement issued by the ECOWAS Secretariat in Abuja and made available to media on Sunday, the mission will operate from 19 to 29 October in accordance with the regional bloc’s Supplementary Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance.
As Head of Mission, Prof. Osinbajo will lead a delegation of distinguished West African figures to engage key national stakeholders, encourage peaceful participation, and ensure the credibility of the electoral process. The mission will also collaborate with international and local observer groups to evaluate the conduct of the polls. ECOWAS said the deployment reflects its steadfast commitment to promoting peace, stability, and transparent elections across the West African sub-region.
