Angola is gearing up to commence large-scale aluminium production this December 2025 with the inauguration of operations at a new industrial facility in the Barra do Dande Free Zone, Bengo Province.
The venture, developed through collaboration between Angolan authorities and China-based investors, encompasses a multi-phase project valued at approximately US $1.6 billion and aims to generate around 12,000 jobs upon full implementation. The first phase alone is expected to create more than 1,200 direct employment opportunities and establish domestic production capacity for aluminium ingots, alloys, sheets, and related products.
Beyond job creation and industrial diversification, the project is designed to bolster Angola’s export earnings, with a significant portion of production earmarked for international markets.
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to reduce reliance on the petroleum sector and accelerate the transformation of the domestic economy into a manufacturing hub. The facility’s strategic positioning within the industrial free zone provides logistical advantages and incentives expected to support a streamlined execution of the production rollout.
