Angola is taking a significant step in diversifying its economy beyond the oil sector by preparing to export high-purity salt.
Domestically produced salt is being positioned for regional markets after the Government confirmed on Tuesday its readiness to supply neighbouring countries, such as DR Congo and Zambia.
The move underscores Angola’s efforts to leverage its natural resource base, specifically in the salt industry, to foster non-oil revenue streams and strengthen trade ties. The initiative also reflects Angola’s broader industrial strategy, which includes modernising production capacity and aligning with national self-sufficiency goals. Exporting salt signals both enhanced processing capability and improved logistics, allowing Angola to not only meet local demand for iodised salt but also to become a competitive regional supplier.
