The President of the Republic of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, instructed the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, Mr Adama Dosso, to lead a working visit to Burkina Faso over the week-end. The mission aims to revive political dialogue between Abidjan and Ouagadougou. Acting under the President’s direct instructions, Minister Dosso sought to restore trust, resolve misunderstandings, and strengthen cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, he was received by H.E. Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The discussions between the delegations focused on the gradual normalization of diplomatic relations, security cooperation, cross-border mobility, and regional stability, as well as solidarity between neighbouring peoples. “Our peoples share historical ties and deep sociological bonds. This foundation cannot be undermined,” emphasised Adama Dosso, adding, “Moments of misunderstanding do not threaten the fraternity between our nations.”
Welcoming the Ivorian initiative, the Burkinabè Foreign Minister reassured his counterparts that Burkina Faso remains open to dialogue. “We have engaged in open and sincere discussions. It is essential to reassure our populations and consolidate trust,” he said. Through these exchanges, both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to constructive dialogue, grounded in mutual respect, common interests, and the fraternal heritage that unites their peoples.
