British Mining Firm Reports Major Copper-Silver Discovery in Morocco’s Anti-Atlas Region

Aterian plc has announced encouraging early-stage exploration results from its Agdz East Copper-Silver Project in central Morocco, revealing significant mineral potential that could reshape the company’s regional strategy. The discovery, located within the Anti-Atlas Mountains approximately 35 kilometers east of Ouarzazate, suggests a far more extensive mineral system than previously anticipated.
Initial surface sampling, covering merely 10% of the 50.4-square-kilometer Agdz area, has identified four parallel mineral zones stretching up to 900 meters in length and seven meters in width. These fault zones, spaced 300-400 meters apart, demonstrate clear structural patterns that indicate substantial exploration upside.
“These early-stage results represent a highly encouraging breakthrough in unlocking the scale potential of the Agdz Copper-Silver Project,” stated Chairman Charles Bray. “The identification of multiple copper and silver-bearing fault zones materially strengthens our conviction that Agdz hosts a large, structurally extensive mineral system.”
Surface samples have yielded promising grades, including 2.97% copper with 51 grams per ton of silver from loose rock samples, and 1.34% copper with 31 grams per ton silver from fractured granite spanning approximately four meters. Perhaps most significantly, all identified mineral zones remain open along strike, suggesting potential for further discoveries.
The project benefits from exceptional infrastructure access, positioned near Ouarzazate’s regional airport and the Noor 1 solar complex, one of the world’s largest renewable energy facilities. This proximity to established infrastructure could accelerate development timelines if exploration confirms commercial viability.
Aterian is leveraging artificial intelligence through partnership with Lithosquare to optimize targeting and accelerate decision-making across its portfolio. The company plans systematic follow-up work including ground geophysics and trenching to define continuity and prioritize drill targets.
“We are particularly excited by the prospect of advancing towards a focused drilling campaign in Morocco, with Agdz emerging as a flagship opportunity,” Bray concluded, noting that growing geological evidence reinforces belief in the site’s potential to develop into a substantial copper-silver system.
