Ethiopia unveils first unmanned smart police stations Under ‘Digital Ethiopia 2030’

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially launched on Monday the country’s first unmanned Smart Police Station System, signalling a strategic leap in the digital transformation of law enforcement.

Announcing the rollout via social media, the Prime Minister said the technology-driven platform will enable citizens to access police services more swiftly and efficiently through digital channels. He noted that the system is designed to enhance rapid response to incidents, strengthen crime prevention, and improve overall operational efficiency within the police service.

According to Abiy Ahmed, the initiative aligns with broader reforms under the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy, aimed at modernising state institutions and positioning law enforcement to be more competent, competitive and citizen-focused.

He said the launch would reinforce ongoing reform efforts by embedding advanced technology into policing, ultimately improving public service delivery while integrating innovation into Ethiopia’s security architecture.
