Angola President Extends Solidarity to Victims of Deadly Floods

On 6 April 2026, Angola’s President, João Lourenço, expressed solidarity with victims affected by intense rainfall that has struck several parts of the country, causing fatalities and widespread destruction.

In a message of condolence, the President lamented the loss of lives and noted that some individuals remain missing, with search and rescue operations ongoing.

The heavy rains have triggered severe flooding, destroyed homes, damaged roads, and disrupted water supply systems, significantly affecting livelihoods in impacted communities.

President Lourenço extended his sympathies to bereaved families and assured that the government would mobilise all relevant institutions to provide relief and support to those affected.
