Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa Lauds Morocco’s Leading Role in Strengthening Religious Cooperation with Ethiopia

The President of Ethiopia’s Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa, praised Morocco’s leading role in strengthening religious cooperation with Ethiopia.

During a meeting on Saturday in Addis Ababa with a delegation from the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema, led by its financial director, Othman Skalli Houssaini, Sheikh Tufa also highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to enshrine the values of tolerance promoted by Islam, underlining the pioneering role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, in this field.

Recalling the depth of the historic ties between Morocco and Ethiopia, Sheikh Tufa emphasized the importance of the cooperation agreements in the religious field signed last January between the Council, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, and the Foundation.

For his part, Skalli Houssaini assured that the Foundation will continue its active role in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, within the framework of bolstering spiritual security and promoting the values of peace, security, and stability on the African continent.

He also recalled the Foundation’s mission to preserve African religious memory and train oulema to contribute to enshrining the values of moderation and spreading the values of coexistence.

During this meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of implementing the agreements signed between the Supreme Council and the Foundation, particularly regarding continuing education programs, the organization of religious activities, and the management of religious affairs, to meet the needs of society and promote the values of moderation and balance, in accordance with the enlightened vision of the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Foundation.
