The CDC, a specialized medical agency of the African Union, on Wednesday, 29th April, received medical equipment donated by China’s billionaire Jack Ma Foundation in partnership with the Beijing government.
The equipment will be distributed to the 55 member states of the African Union.
The shipment, which includes 4.6 million masks, 500,000 tests, 300 ventilators and protective equipment, arrived at Bole airport (Addis Ababa).
The chairman of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, was on the spot along with representatives of the Jack Ma Foundation and the Chinese embassy as the plane landed with the donation.
This is the third delivery by China since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in Africa.
