Togo has inaugurated a new Clinker plant

Faure_Gnassingbe5The Togolese Head of State, Faure Gnassingbé has conducted on Friday at Sika Condji, a village located about 90 km northeast of Lomé at the inauguration of a clinker plant named “Scan Mines”.

Started in 2012, the construction of the plant was financed by the company “Scantogo SA” to the tune of 140 billion FCFA and lasted 24 months on a total area of ​​386,050 sqm. It has a production capacity of 5,000 tons of clinker per day and 1.5 million tons per year.

“The operation of the plant we are inaugurating this day will help for sure to the consolidation of production for local and regional needs. Indeed, with the factory Scantogo, Togo acquires an important tool to increase the production of cement and promote the availability of this valuable material both within our borders and beyond, “said Dammipi Noupokou, Minister of Mines and Energy.

Present at the opening ceremony, was Dr. Bernd Scheifele, CEO of HeidelbergCement has thanked Faure Gnassingbé, who according to him, has spared no effort in demonstrating their support to this project which saw sprout plant which meets the best international standards in terms of safety and environmental protection.

“It must be said that our success has been possible thanks to the close cooperation with the authorities and strict compliance with local laws and regulations. This plant will contribute actively to the development of the country both economically and socially, “he has proclaimed.

It should be recalled that the implementation of this clinker plant will contribute to the creation of 200 direct jobs and over 1,200 indirect jobs.
