Sahara: Lebanon reaffirms firm support to Morocco’s territorial integrity

Lebanon has renewed its steadfast support to Morocco’s territorial integrity, national unity and sovereignty over its Sahara, rejecting any separatist entity.

The supportive stand was voiced by Lebanese Foreign minister Zeina Acar during virtual talks held Wednesday with Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita.

The Lebanese official also thanked King Mohammed VI for his solidarity with her country, citing in this regard the Moroccan medical and food assistance as well the field hospital set up in Lebanon following the devastating explosion in Beirut port and the royal support to the Lebanese army and people to address the economic challenges and Covid-19 pandemic.

For his part, Moroccan foreign minister said the royal solidarity initiatives show the importance the Sovereign attaches to Lebanon’s security and stability and to help it overcome the difficulties and challenges it faces.

Rabat has always called for respect for the sovereignty of Lebanon, its territorial integrity and its national unity, said the minister, expressing the Kingdom’s hope to see all components of the Lebanese people come to an agreement serving the supreme interests of their country and set up a government of national unity supported by the Lebanese people and the international community

The two ministers also discussed latest developments on the regional and international scenes and agreed to facilitate visa processing for applicants from the two brotherly countries.
