Ivorian Didier Drogba to present 2021 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris

The Ballon d’Or will be awarded on November 29 in Paris, after a year without a winner, announced Wednesday the magazine France Football, organizer of this distinction rewarding the best player of the year.

The ceremony will be presented by Didier Drogba. The former Ivorian international will co-host the award ceremony. He has been chosen as France Football’s Ballon d’Or ambassador.

The ceremony will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet on Monday November 29. The men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or awards will be presented, as well as the Kopa trophy for the best young player and the Yachine trophy for the best goalkeeper.

The list of nominees for these different awards will be revealed on Friday, October 8, starting at 5:30 p.m., on the antennas and networks of the L’Equipe group, the organizers said in a statement.

Lionel Messi, six-time winner, and Megan Rapinoe are the holders, after their coronation in 2019. The following year, the award was not given after a season marked by Covid-19.
