Rui Vitoria appointed Egypt Pharaohs coach

Former Benfica Lisbon coach Rui Vitoria was appointed coach of the Egyptian national team on Tuesday, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced.
Vitoria, 52, succeeds Ehab Galal, who was sacked in June for poor results just two months after taking over.
“The Egyptian Football Association has reached a final agreement with Portuguese Rui Vitoria to manage the Egyptian national team for the next four years,” the EFA said on Twitter. At the helm of Benfica, where he spent four seasons (2015-2019) Rui Vitoria won three Portuguese league titles (2016, 2017, 2019).
Egypt will not participate in the next World Cup in Qatar (21 November – 18 December), after failing to qualify against Senegal last March. At that time, the Pharaohs were coached by another Portuguese, Carlos Queiroz, who was later replaced for a short time by Galal.
