Israeli Deputy Premier and Justice Minister Gideon Saar has reiterated his country’s firm backing to Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its Sahara.
He voiced the supportive stand on Wednesday following talks he held in Rabat with Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita.
The meeting comes as Morocco and Israel are expanding their partnership and strengthening their economic, military, scientific and cultural cooperation ties following the normalization of their relations in 2020.
On Wednesday, Gideon Saar was also received by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Chief of national police and domestic intelligence agency. Talks focused on the common security and political challenges the two countries are facing.
The Israeli minister signed on Tuesday in Rabat a judicial cooperation deal with Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi.
Another Israeli minister is also visiting the North African Kingdom this week. Issawi Frej is Israel’s Regional Cooperation Minister who met separately on Tuesday with minister of Youth & Culture Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid and minister of higher education & scientific research, Abdellatif Miraoui.
Talks covered cooperation prospects between Moroccan and Israeli universities in scientific research and a cultural exchange program.
