Angolan President João Lourenço has authorized expenditure of 80.9 million dollars (73 million euros) for the rehabilitation, expansion and equipping of eight public schools in Luanda, due to their advanced state of disrepair.
The measure is contained in a presidential order dated December 22 and that we consulted on Thursday December 28 after being published in the Diário da República. It authorizes the expenditure and formalizes the opening of the “simplified contracting procedure” for the signing of public works contracts for the “rehabilitation, expansion and equipping” of these infrastructures.
These are the first cycle secondary schools of Njinga Mbamdi, 1º de Maio, Juventude em Luta, Ngola Kanine, Ngola Kiluanje, as well as School Complex no. 9.001, the Rangel Special Education School and the Luanda Commercial Technical Institute.
The President of the Republic of Angola delegates to the Minister of Education the power, with the right to sub-delegate, to follow up the process and verify the validity and legality of all the acts carried out within its scope.
The Ministry of Finance must include the projects in the 2024 State Budget and ensure the availability of the financial resources needed to implement these projects, the order states.
