East Libyan FM rejects Algeria’s plot of creating new Maghreb without Morocco

East Libya’s Foreign minister Abdulhadi Al hwaij has rejected the Algerian regime’s scheme of creating a new Maghreban bloc without Morocco, dealing another hard blow to ruling junta in Algeria.

“The Maghreb does not need to create new regional entities because we have already existing institutions, we just need to activate and strengthen them,” stressed the Libyan top diplomat at a press conference.

Libya remains committed to the Maghreb Arab Union (UMA) and looks forward to strengthening cooperation between the Maghreb countries, whose trading remains weak compared to other regional blocs, added the Pro-Haftar minister whose remarks were reported by several media outlets.

“We live in the same region and what we need today is setting up a single market and fostering Maghreban cooperation for the sake of the peoples of the region,” said the Libyan minister.

On the sidelines of a forum held lately by gas exporting countries in Algiers, President Abdelmajid Tebboune convened a meeting with President of Tunisia, Kaïs Saïed and Head of Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Younes El-Menfi, while Mauritanian President Mohamed Cheikh Ould El Ghazouani skipped the gathering after sensing conspiracy.

By hosting such a meeting, the Algerian manipulator regime unveiled its Machiavellian plan of building an anti-Moroccan alliance and exerting pressure on Nouakchott to join the so-called new Maghreb entity, while the Arab Maghreb Union is still existing, operating and recognized by the African Union and several other international institutions and organizations.

Last year, Secretary General of UMA Taieb Baccouche urged Algeria to pay its due contribution and return its staff who continue to receive their salary without working.

In his latest interview, President Tebboune reiterated his project of a Maghreb without Morocco which is thriving economically, exporting peace and stability worldwide, while the Algerian regime is sowing divisions, supporting separatism, and serving the agenda of its former colonial power.
