South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, over the week-end, the Presidency announced on Wednesday, 9 September 2026.
The summit, held under India’s chairship, will focus on building resilience, innovation, cooperation and security. Discussions will cover trade and investment, institutional cooperation, people-centred development and reforms of the United Nations and international financial institutions.
President Ramaphosa will be accompanied by International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, and Deputy Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Zuko Godlimpi.
South Africa intends to use the summit to promote intra-BRICS trade and investment, industrialisation, value addition and funding for African infrastructure aligned with the African Continental Free Trade Area.
BRICS leaders will also discuss global governance reforms, multilateralism, geopolitical tensions and the interests of the Global South. President Ramaphosa will participate in the BRICS Business Forum Leaders’ Dialogue, which will address trade and supply chains, agriculture, women-led development, the digital economy and innovation.
