Turnover in services in Cape Verde grew 13.9% in the second quarter

From April to June, the index for the services sector decreased by 9.7% compared to the previous three months, according to activity indicators. The most significant impacts on this decline came from the wholesale and retail trade sector, which contributed 7.8 percentage points, and the accommodation and food services sector, which contributed 4.8 percentage points.
In the second quarter of the year, both full-time and total employment indices fell by 0.4% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the gross wage index saw a 2.4% year-on-year increase, as reported by INE.
The Services activity indicators aim to reflect short-term nominal changes in turnover, employment, and salaries. Note that financial services, insurance activities, and real estate activities are excluded from these indicators. The data is based on the 5th Business Census of 2017.
