Cheptegei, 33, suffered extensive burns—covering 80% of her body—while being treated at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Rift Valley. According to a medical source, her vital organs failed the previous night.
The police report indicates that on Sunday, her partner, Dickson Ndema Marangatch, allegedly poured gasoline on her and set her ablaze at her residence in the Endepis district of Trans Nzoia West Province.
