The second session of the U.S.-Egypt Joint Economic Commission (JEC) took place on September 4-5, 2024, in Washington, D.C., focusing on digital transformation, energy security, and renewables. The U.S. delegation, led by Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Jose W. Fernandez, and the Egyptian delegation, led by Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs, Ambassador Sameh Aboul-Enein, discussed enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.

Established during the U.S.-Egypt Strategic Dialogue in November 2021, the JEC aims to promote investment opportunities and strengthen business ties between the two nations.

The delegations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing economic cooperation and engaged in dialogue on economic reform and a dynamic private sector. They explored collaboration in digital transformation, energy security, and economic growth, agreeing to pursue rapid implementation of their commitments.
Additionally, the delegations participated in a day-long dialogue with the private sector on AI, digital transformation, energy, investment, and manufacturing. They decided to hold the third JEC session in Egypt in 2025, continuing their annual meetings.
