Simões Pereira says that money from the “six billion” case went to the Guinean President’s advisor

The president of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) says he is open to dialogue with the President of the Republic, together with leaders of parties with seats in parliament, to find solutions to the country’s political crisis.
At a press conference this Tuesday, October 1, in Bissau, Domingos Simões Pereira said he was “surprised” by the reopening of the so-called “rescue process” of the banks.
The leader of the PAI – Terra Ranka coalition, which won the legislative elections of June 4, 2023, also addressed the payment of six billion CFA francs (around 10 million dollars) which, according to him, was the basis for the dissolution of the National People’s Assembly in December last year by the President of the Republic.
Simões Pereira said that of the six billion, “three billion went to an advisor to the President of the Republic, who continues to be an advisor at this time”, without revealing his name, and that another “1.2 billion went to a businessman”. He went further and stated that it was “from this amount that the businessman paid the amounts that the President of the Republic announced as having given 400 million to one party, 300 million to another party”. “In other words, of the six billion that is being talked about, 4.2 billion went to someone very close to the President of the Republic, so it is indeed strange”, stressed the PAIGC president.
