Washington voices appreciation for King Mohammed VI’s crucial voice in promoting a more peaceful, secure Middle East, reaffirms support for Morocco’s serious, credible, realistic Autonomy Plan

The United States has voiced appreciation for King Mohammed VI’s crucial voice in advancing a more peaceful and secure Middle East region and for Morocco’s leadership in responding to humanitarian needs in Gaza, supporting stabilization in the West Bank, and contributing to the revitalization of the Palestinian Authority.

This came in a statement released by the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Matthew Miller, following the meeting held Tuesday in Washington between Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita.

The United States appreciates the “crucial voice” of King Mohammed VI in “advancing a more peaceful and secure Middle East region,” said the U.S. State Department spokesperson in the statement, indicating that during the meeting, the Secretary highlighted “Morocco’s leadership in responding to humanitarian needs in Gaza, supporting stabilization in the West Bank, and contributing to the revitalization of the Palestinian Authority.”

The head of US diplomacy also praised “Morocco’s ongoing efforts to end the political stalemate in Libya, and address instability in the Sahel,” the statement said.

During the meeting, Antony Blinken also reiterated the U.S. government’s unwavering support to the Autonomy plan offered by Morocco for the Sahara under its sovereignty, describing the plan as “serious, credible and realistic”.

The Secretary affirmed full U.S. support for Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General Staffan de Mistura and his efforts to advance negotiations leading to an enduring political solution for Sahara issue without further delay, said the statement.
