The Government of Cape Verde announced on Monday October 14 that the computer system responsible for processing State payments has returned to normal operation after a period of instability that threatened to cause delays.
In a statement, the Ministry of Finance and Business Development confirmed that the issues impacting the system had been resolved: “We have successfully addressed the challenges affecting the system, ensuring the continuity and efficiency of the State’s financial operations.”
The Budget and Financial System of Cape Verde had experienced operational disruptions last week. On Friday, the government issued a warning that the system’s instability might cause payment delays. It assured the public that any payments not processed on the scheduled dates would be made “as quickly as possible.”
Cape Verde has been actively working to transition its services to digital platforms, aiming to achieve nearly full digitalization of public administration by 2030. This recent issue highlighted the importance of these efforts, as the country seeks to modernize its systems and enhance efficiency across government operations.
