King Mohammed VI conferred on Monday at Rabat Royal Place with French President Emmanuel Macron shortly after his arrival on a three-day state visit to the North African Kingdom.
Talks focused on the transition to a new era of strong relations between Morocco and France, within the framework of a renewed exceptional Partnership and a strategic roadmap for the upcoming years, said a statement issued by the Royal Office.
The two Heads of State intend, through this renewed partnership, to give a new impetus to the excellent multidimensional relations between Morocco and France, while taking into account the ambitions of the two countries, the challenges they are facing and developments on the international scene.
Talks also covered regional and international issues. King Mohammed VI and President Macron agreed to work together to strengthen the Euro-Mediterranean and the African & Atlantic projects for shared prosperity, human and sustainable development.
They stressed the importance of renewing the partnership between the two shores of the Mediterranean in order to build a more stable, sustainable and prosperous future for the whole region, while countering today’s socio-economic and environmental challenges.
The French President commended on this occasion the constructive role of King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, for peace in the Middle East. The two Heads of State called for an immediate cessation of the attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, while stressing the priority of protecting civilians, the importance of guaranteeing & facilitating the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid and ending the regional conflagration.
The Moroccan Sovereign and the French President reiterated the urgent need to reactivate the peace process on the basis of the two-State solution, with an independent Palestinian State on the 1967 border, with East Jerusalem as its Capital.
Mr. Macron extended an official invitation to King Mohammed VI to pay State visit to France, which the Sovereign accepted.
Afterwards, the two leaders chaired the signing ceremony of major deals in the fields of railways, green hydrogen, renewable energies, culture, education, water, and agriculture.
