Multi-faceted development of Moroccan Southern Provinces under King’s leadership highlighted in France

The multi-faceted development achieved in the Moroccan Southern Provinces under the leadership of King Mohammed VI was highlighted at a conference held in the French city of Lyon, part of the commemoration of the 49th anniversary of the Green March.

Panelists, including French figures and members of the Moroccan diaspora, as well as Consul General of Morocco in Lyon, Fatima Baroudi, reviewed the significant achievements realized under the leadership of the Monarch at the national scale, with focus on the Sahara region.

The various speakers highlighted the comprehensive development projects launched across the Kingdom, driven by the Sovereign’s farsighted vision, which has sparked sustained and renewed dynamics of development, progress, and prosperity in the southern provinces.

Thanks to this vision, they noted, the southern provinces have become a hub of development and prosperity and a prime destination for major structural projects and investments, positioning the region as a gateway to the African continent and a link between Europe and Africa.

The French economic operators and businessmen from the Moroccan diaspora attending the conference followed the presentations with great interest, and expressed their willingness to support the Kingdom in its development and progress efforts.

Henri Louis Vedie, emeritus professor at HEC-Paris, focused his remarks on the development efforts in the Sahara provinces, from the organization of the Green March by the late King Hassan II to the present day, emphasizing the New Development Model initiated by King Mohammed VI.

As a keen observer of Moroccan economy, Vedie highlighted the reform projects that have made the region an attractive and competitive centre in the agricultural and maritime sectors, along with its significant tourism potential.
